Protest as Belemaoil sacks 150 worker
SACKED workers of J plus G Global Gas/Oil Field, subsidiary of Belema Producing Limited, have staged a peaceful protest at the company's headquarters in Port Harcourt, over non-payment of their outstanding salaries and benefits.
The over 150 alleged sacked workers who, lamentes the unpaid terminal benefits, noted that they were no longer interested in the job, but their payment.
Mr. Krakrafa Dokubo, the leader of the protesting workers alleged that the company had not kept up with the salary schedule saying: "Right from when they gave us our appointment letter, in fact, from January 2020, they started to pay us below our salary schedule."
"Three months ago, they called us to the office and gave us sack letter without giving us any benefit, and we have been calling them to see how our money can be paid but they are not giving us any listening ear."
Meanwhile, the head of cooperate affairs of Belema oil ,J and G global gas oil field, Mr. Samuel Jumbo who acknowledged that the erstwhile workers claims were legitimate, said that the company had been on shut down due to Covid-19 and in due time would resolve every issue bothering on worker's pay-off.
"I am aware of the workers grievances and their sack letters has been shown to me, though the termination was not in bad fate."
