Magu suspended as Presidency says nobody is above scrutiny
The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, has been suspended from office as the head of the commission.
This was happening as the presidency said that the ongoing probe of Magu is a proof that nobody under President Muhammadu Buhari is above scrutiny.
The presidency opined that anybody that has been appointed as EFCC Chairman must live above suspicion, adding that the ongoing grilling EFCC boss is to give him (Magu) the opportunity to clear himself of the allegations against him.
A reliable source in the presidency said the investigation of the EFCC boss was to reinforce the Buhari administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
The source was quoted as saying, “The panel investigating allegations against Ag. EFCC Chairman had been sitting for some weeks now.
“In consonance with the principle of fairness and justice, it was needful that the Ag. Chairman be given opportunity to respond to the allegations, which are
weighty in nature."
