Hon. Ohaka joins in fight against rape, drug abuse






FORMER lawmaker in the Emohua Local Government Area Legislative Assembly, Chief Hon. Fubara Ohaka, has promised his support in the fight against drug abuse and rape.


Ohaka also commended the leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in state and the Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, and Sen. Andrew Uchendu, for their support.


He made this promise on Sunday when he received the management of KADAF Production Limited and Gold Pyramid Studios on the ongoing TV series on drug abuse and rape titled Debris.


Speaking, Ohaka, who is Eze Chimere Eze, indicated his desire to partner the entertainment industry in the state to foster peace and development in Rivers State.


Ohaka, a crusader of peace in the state had expressed fears about drug addiction, describing it as the main cause of youth restiveness.


Ohaka, noted that the devastating effect of drug addiction which has led to wanton loss of life on many occasions, lauding the effort of KADAF and Gold Pyramid, makers of "Debris". 


He said: "What is happening in our society is a thing of concern. The level of drug abuse is getting out of hand.


"If it continues like this we will not have future leaders. So, I will do everything to ensure that this project that will ensure sanity in our society is projected.


"I am a man of peace. I know what it took me and some other leaders to restore peace in Ibaa community. I will support this work against drug abuse.


Earlier, the Chairman of KADAF Production and Director of Debris, noted that the project would serve as solution to drug addicts.

The Supreme Court of Nigeria has sacked the governor-elect of Bayelsa State, David Lyon and his Deputy, Biobarakuma Degi-Eremieoyo. The court on Thursday in a unanimous decision by a five-man panel of Justices led by Justice Mary Odili, held that Degi-Eremieoyo submitted a forged certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
